As a photographer, one of the things that makes it worth all the effort is the response we get from the people we deal with. I stopped by Glenna’s work to deliver her finished album earlier this week, she arrived at the lobbly slightly out of breath..she had run down the hall when the receptionist told her I was there! That put a wonderful finish on a very fun wedding.
I had the pleasure to shoot Glenna and Phil’s wedding in early July. It was a backyard wedding, but it was a beautiful sunny day and the field was full of happy family and friends
One of the added bonuses of...

I had the privledge to photograph a session with Michael Fahey, He’s been a giving guitar lessons to folks around Truro for over 20 years (and yoga, as well!)
This was sort of the ‘last jam’ with a couple of his students, and it was a great experience to sit back and watch then play together.
Notice the red guitar in the shots below? It’s an Epiphone Casino.
It was made famous by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison from that little rock band known as the Beatles. They all had one during the 60’s and John Lennon used his on several albums with the...

And now for something completely different..
Ski Wentworth hosted the Canadian Junior Nationals this year, so I made the trek up the mountain (literally, twice) to shoot some of the action.
Sometimes you have to get away form what you’re used to and look at things differently. There’s nothing like trying to shoot fast moving skiers to challenge the photography skills a bit.
Shot for four hours. A lot of bad ones, but I did get some keepers. Check ‘em out below.

As spring draws near the itch to shoot comes back. It’s like having cabin fever, only you need to be holding a camera.
When Mia starts to get a little shack wacky, we head to the local dog park to run off some energy. It seemed like a good excuse to bring the camera along and try to get some shots.
Fast-moving dogs can be a challenge to shoot, but i got a few i’m happy with. There are a few that aren’t perfect, but I liked them enough to post them anyway
enjoy..

It’s a cold and rainy February morning, so I figured everyone could use a little reminder of the warm weather that is hopefully on the way
It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything on the blog, and I thought it was time to post a few of these shots from a Grad/Seniors session from last fall
2009 was a pretty big growth year for me, I spent a lot of time working with Jeff Babineau from Truro. We worked together on several weddings, a few commercial shoots, and a bunch of portrait sessions.
In between schlepping gear and holding lights I managed to get a few minutes...

It started out as one of those days where you’re never quite sure how things will turn out.
There was a little bit of rain in the air, my main camera was in the shop, and the unpredictable nature of kids is always a factor.
Minor stress, not a problem.
Everything clicked. The kids were fantastic. Bradley wanted to get his picture taken.
Bradley was the man. I got shots like this all morning.
It gave me the shivers, it makes me feel like there’s an old soul behind those eyes.
It doesn’t get any better than this.

I’ve always had a love for motorcycles.
I grew up around them, living vicariously thru my brother. I don’t have my own yet, but i’m working on it..
Until then, I’m more than happy to take photos of them, and the folks who ride ‘em
Three guys and their dad, I could tell most of them would rather be riding than standing around and taking pictures on a sunny morning, so I found a nice quiet stretch of road, and let them do just that.
Lots more..hit the...

Of all the weddings I shot this year, this one stands out. Christine and Christian are two of the most laid-back folks i’ve met in a long time, and it was a pleasure spending the day with them.
The wedding party met at a coffee house before the ceremony, no worries of the groom seeing the bride here!
Definitely not a traditional wedding, it was super casual, and very unique with a true Nova Scotian flavour.
The wedding party was led to the ceremony by a bagpipe and drum band, and the ceremony was held on the tall ship Hector. With bagpipes, kilts, and ships, it doesn’t get much...

Had a great portrait session a couple weeks ago with Tifanie and Craig, and their two little ones, Jack and Sophie.
So what’s the Bishop about? Bishop is the family boxer.
Coolest. Dog. Ever. Keep reading, I think you’ll agree.
Jack was the man in charge of the floor. We had some belly time together on the floor in the sun just after we arrived

He’s king of the blankets too. I love this shot!
Sophie rocked the chair for a bit, she was 90% model, 10% ham.
And Bishop was, well, just classic Bishop.
The kids were great, but this was...

Like most towns, Truro has it’s share of abandoned buildings. Some have more character than others. The former County jail in downtown Truro is certainly no exception!
After lots of work by Jeff Babineau, thru several phone calls and a few letters he managed to get us a day pass into jail.
We ended up with three models – Chelsea Hill, Heather Crosby Gionet, and Kelly Lynn Walker.
Heather and Kelly are both photographers as well, so there was no shortage of talent
I was shooting alongside Jeff, as well as Liam Hennesey from Applehead Studios of Halifax.
Nadine was there as well,...
